My thoughts on the so-called 3^rd wave

Or revival outpouring taking place in Florida.

1 John 2:18-19: “Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.”

1 John 2:22-23; “Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”

We have placed far too much emphasis on some future antichrist person that we fail to carefully read what John [the only New Testament writer who wrote concerning antichrist] actually wrote to his 1^st Century readers. We must always be very careful in our analyses of Scripture to note who the author is speaking or writing to and why. John was not prophesying of some future one man antichrist who would raise up 2000 or more years later in what we call the last days to lord it over the nations, John was telling his 1^st Century readers of what was already happening in their time. Read verse 18 in the Amplified Bible and we get a more clear picture of the time frame John was speaking off; “Boys (lads), it is the last time (hour, the end of this age). And as you have heard that the antichrist [he who will oppose Christ in the guise of Christ] is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen, which confirms our belief that it is the final (the end) time.” I still see where many today when speaking of this verse and others like it want to relate it to our day as though John wrote this epistle directly to us, in our day. (Fact is though it still has relevance in our day as we will see later).
